What the Kubiak Hire Means for the Raiders

It was announced Sunday that Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak would be joining the Las Vegas Raiders as their next head coach. Nothing can make me official after the Super Bowl. The Seahawks will face off against the New England Patriots for a chance at the franchise’s second Super Bowl title.

Hiring Kubiak will give the Raiders an offensive-minded head coach who will establish a clear offensive identity. Las Vegas ranked last in offensive production in 2025.

Kubiak is known for the wide-zone running scheme and RPO-style concepts. He looks to create mismatch opportunities, like last week when you saw Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba line up in the backfield, then went out for a pass. Running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers should benefit from Kubiak’s offense.

Seattle ranked third in points (28.4 per game), eighth in total yards (351.4), tied for 10th in rushing yards (123.3), eighth in passing yards (228.1), 13th in offensive efficiency (50.76), and 15th in EPA (30.86).

The Raiders hold the No.1 pick in the NFL Draft, which will likely be Quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Kubiak has experience working with young and developing quarterbacks, prioritizing fundamentals, footwork, and decision-making. His offenses are designed to reduce turnovers and build confidence through high-percentage throws and structured progressions. For a team likely investing heavily at quarterback, this makes Kubiak an ideal fit.

While Kubiak lacks head-coaching experience, his upside lies in innovation and adaptability. In a division loaded with offensive firepower, the Raiders are betting that a modern, quarterback-friendly system gives them a chance to close the gap.

Kubiak brings offensive structure, quarterback development, and a growth-focused culture to the Raiders. It’s a forward-thinking hire that prioritizes long-term success over short-term noise — a gamble, but one with a clear plan and purpose. Next, Kubiak needs to build a strong coaching staff to support his success.
