Women’s Basketball: Sierra College Dominates Napa Valley 107-43

The Sierra College women’s basketball team traveled to San Francisco to play in the Golden Gate Classic Tournament. In their opening matchup, Sierra took on Napa Valley College on Thursday afternoon. The Wolverines won in dominating fashion 107 to 43.

After the 1st quarter, Sierra was up 24-10, using suffocating defense to build the lead. The Wolverines kept up their strong defense and offense and went into halftime with a 49-14 lead. They only gave up four points in the second quarter. The second half was much of the same; going into the fourth quarter, Sierra led 79-31 and never looked back.

Once again, the Wolverines did a good job sharing the basketball. Christina Oliva led Sierra in scoring with 26 points while also grabbing six rebounds. Brianna Lambey added 15 points and six steals. Kim Quicksail scored 14 points, and Jenna Duley added 12 points for Sierra.

The Wolverines grabbed 54 rebounds, with 30 of them being offensive. Kiki Griffen led the way with nine rebounds, Jesse Miller followed up with seven rebounds. Sierra had 24 steals in the game, along with Lambey’s six, Devon Lewis added five, and Rachel Loya had four.

The Wolverines will be back in action Friday at 5 pm against East LA or Skyline.
