The New England Patriots made their first pick of the draft in the second round with the 37th pick. With that pick, they took Kyle Dugger safety out of Lenior-Rhyne.
Dugger is a Division II prospect that has a lot of raw talent. He is aggressive in the box safety that likes to get physical. Dugger fills holes hard and knows how to slip blocks and find the football. He does struggle in deep zone coverage.
Dugger is useful in short zones and can cover underneath routes, the former Lenior-Rhyne safety runs a 4.49 forty and has a 42 inch vertical. Dugger will be reliable in the box safety for Bill Belichick and the Patriots defense.
